From an indigenous trend, to a vast industry, sneaker culture has been on rise throughout the world. Ever since the launch of the first Nike Air Jordans in the States, sneakers have been looked upon as collectibles. It‘s no news that people collect items that intrigue them. Ranging from coins to sneakers, the list is absolutely endless. However, it has never been more accessible than it is today. People go to great lengths to procure one of its kind sneakers through varied channels and preserve them as priced possessions, monitoring their resale value over time. When we try to dissect the sneaker culture in India, it can be gathered that India is more of a follower than a trend setter. Through the years, and added travel exposure, Indians have been exposed to this trend and have finally picked up on it. What we lack however, are our homegrown brands that could cater to the young sneakerheads. Our brand, A skating monk plans to cater to this young audience, through its eclectic designs. An initiative to bring in the best of technology and style into the country. Our first collection is inspired by everything that spoke to us around the globe. A result of cultural fusion and immense travel, A skating monk is bound to make heads turn. From Mumbai to Mexico, bits and pieces of everything that influenced us off the streets.
